I got home yesterday and these two big green leaves were staring at me from my courgette pot. It was much much smaller when I went to work. Ive never grown courgettes before, is it normal for them to grow this fast?

They do grow fast. I hope you've got plenty of space to keep them until there's no risk of frost?

Well I sowed at the wrong time but never mind they are inside in the warmth and there is enough room until the warm summer months.

Next year I will sow later. Big Smile

And if they succumb there is plenty of time to re-sow.

I suspect that this is a very wise precaution in your case. I always sow the whole packet.

I found the same thing today with a tray of squash seeds. When I checked first thing, there was one poking out of the soil. By late afternoon, another 6 had poked out! I think they like their new windowsill!
