I am rather new to this site, and to all that reside here. Just wanted to say hello. Here in Northern USA we are under 12 inches of snow, the season has brought us horribly cold weather. In my opinion spring could not come soon enough. I have started forcing some of my bulbs (tulip mainly) trying to jumpstart spring out of hibernation. Atleast it's spring indoors.

Have a good day!

Hi - I too am new to this page! This is my first entry.
Weather here in the north eastern part of the UK is blissfully quiet compared to other parts of the country that are covered in snow. We're enjoying mild weather with clear blue skies - although we are forcast for snow tomorrow.
Spent a lovely weekend shopping at local nurseries and bought a number of winter flowering plants - including are rare find of Edworthia Chrysantha.
We have managed to get into the garden quite a few times since Christmas, but we're both "chomping at the bit" as it were to get stuck in. We're making a new border in our garden to separate the flower garden from the kitchen garden. I can see it finished in my mind eye but there's some back breaking work ahead (for my wonderful husband) before it gets to where we want it to be.
Happy gardening! Monica.

Hello new people! I agree that this can be a frustrating time of year. It can be very optimistic too though - we're still imagining that this will be the year the colour schemes really work, that we don't have blight, when it's sunny all day and rains at night all summer, that we remember to take the cuttings we usually forget about, we make jam from our own fruit, the carrots are free from holes, we save some seed, the clemtis flowers for months, long tailed tits eat all the aphids, we win a prize in the local show, we sit out one evening with a drink and smell the flowers, we walk barefoot over the lawn ... Some of that will happen!
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

Most of that will happen. The collared
Most of that will happen!
The Collored Doves are back in the garden and we have four Blackbirds already. The Robins are fighting about territory before there`s anything there.
Must remember to disinfect the birdfeeders to stop the mites transferring from the starlings to the finches. So much to do even as it is still freezing out there. The spuds are sprouting, the first Broad Beans are in the pots on the window-cill. New herb plants (from Lidl) are bursting with shoots ready to refurbish the kitchen garden(£2.49 in 5 inch terracotta pots!) and a new Apple tree, bare-rooted,5 foot high (£3.99 from Lidl!). I can`t wait for spring!

Greetings to all!
I can't wait for spring either but after a very cold, sometimes snowy and frosty couple of months, the temperature is starting to rise. Good to see the snowdrops, croci, daffodils and tulips emerging - funny how some have been delayed by the weather and then all appear at the same time!
Lots of work to look forward to..................................!
