Hi
I am new to this so hi to everyone. I bought some bulbs last year which the box said came from South Africa, i think it said they were irises but not sure. Does anyone know what they are called as I would like to get some more but don't know what they are?
Many thanks

Hi, I think they may be Acidanthera - I bought a packet of bulbs last year, but forgot to plant them. They look very similar.
I may be wrong though

Thanks Hosta
That is them, got it completely wrong being an iris. Will be able to order some more now as they add a late splash of colour and fragrance to the garden which is great.
Cheers

They are also known as Gladiolus callianthus 'Murielae'.

Hi there,
These gorgeous bulbs are Gladiolus callianthus/ or Acidanthera, they are from Ethiopia. They are not reliably hardy, so better in pots which you can overwinter dry in a glasshouse. Highly scented and easy to grow though!

Do you think it would be ok to use the bulbs I forgot to plant this year ?

As long as they haven't dried out completely, they should be ok to plant but I would leave the planting until spring.

If they dont grow, will try not to forget to plant things again.
