should I pinch out aubergine side shoots?

I am growing aubergines in my conservatory and pinched out the growing tip when it reached 12inches. It has side shoots, just like tomatoes do - should they be pinched out?

Just pinch out the tip to make 'em bushy and that is it - most books say 20-25cm, but 30 is fine. I usually forget but it all comes right in the end. Boggy
