Fuzzypeach - and anyone else using Flickr - you need to sign out of Flickr before you copy/paste the URL into your posts.

In some pic database websites you can choose to hide pictures from other users, if you've got that restriction switched on, people'd need a password or be part of your 'contacts' to be able to see it.

In reply to Admin's post at the top of this thread, dated 23-06-08, about the addition of pictures to posts:

I followed this method and got nowhere.  Forum contributor EvaInNL finally explained to me: "About the posting of pics, when you've got the URL of your pic, and you've opened your post, you'll see an icon with a tree in it at the top of the toolbar.  Click on that and copy the URL into that. That should do it.."

This did work once I changed my browser to Internet Explorer.  I use Google Chrome as my browser, and for some reason the toolbar, with the tree icon and everything else, doesn't appear at the top of my posts.  And other formatting, e.g. paragraph breaks, doesn't work either.

    Hope this is helpful.

Note: functionality based on using Internet Explorer. Functions may vary when using different browsers...

Well ... thank you. Wonder why it is not possible to upload photos the same way as facebook, blogs and so on, where they just resize the photos to their requirement.

I also wonder about that Claptrap,

I use another website  regularly and I can upload pictures directly to their bulletin board.  No Photobucket, no Flikr just a straightforward direct upload link that Always works first time every time.

If they can do it why can't this site? Confused

There is no such thing as useless - you can always be a bad example.

I have been "banging on" about this ever since I joined.

I have written letters, sent private  e mails, posted numerous times on these forums for anyone to read.

     Still it is the same!

It is just so very frustrating.

    Nothing happens.

I know of no other forum with this method of adding pics.

It might help if clear step by step instructions, with good diagrams were posted at the top. Who can be bothered to read 4 pages of posts in the hope of a gem of real help.

I have lost track of the lost souls who have posted a question and been unable to add a pic. Disappeared never to come back here.

They will be lost to the RHS and the forums for ever.

    Hi,

Right, after looking through various posts on here and failing to upload photos successfully, I have been through quite an extensive process of trial and error.. I have now managed to post photos reasonably simply using a method that's not too dissimilar to the one above - suggested by admin. I'll try and explain it point by point the best that I can. I hope it works for you!

    1. Upload your photograph to Flikr

    2. Keeping your Flikr page open on a separate tab, go to My Garden forums and select the area of the forum that you want to post within or the message that you’d like to reply to

    3. Enter your topic in the subject field and compose your message

    4. When that’s complete, select the options tab

    5. Click on add/update the click on the radio button 'Link to URL’

    6. Go back to Flikr and open up the photo that you want to include

    7. Right click on the photo and a little box should come up ‘view all sizes’ – click on the 'Medium 500' option

    8. Now right click again on the photo and select ‘Copy image URL’

    9. Go back to your My Garden forum post and right click in the ‘Link to URL’ box

    10. Select paste. The URL should now be pasted into that box

    11. Click save

    12. You should then be returned to the options page (with all the smiley face icons)

    13. Click on ‘Post’

    14. You’re done!

How would this work for my own pic though, or wouldn't it?

You can post your own pictures, Marguerite - you need to upload them to Photobucket, Flikr or somewhere like that, then post the link here.

Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.

I use a Mac, have signed up to Photobucket, have read all of this thread but still cannot add pictures to my posts. Most frustrating! Please can some kind soul tell me what to do? Many thanks in advance, Annelise.

I am a newbie and have tried adding a picture from Flickr but when I right click the picture I get several copy options (amongst other things), none of which seem to let me paste the image as an image, only a link to the image. The copy options are: Copy Link, Copy Image Address and Copy Image. What am I doing wrong?

OK, further to my message above I have now found and tried the solution suggested by Fuzzypeach (25/5/11 0931) and it works in part. I copied the image url in Flickr as she suggested and then went to Options/ add/edit/ link to URL. I managed to post one picture but this method does not seem to allow you to post more than one url so only one picture. I am also using a mac like others have mentioned.
