I love them too.
My favourite is Mrs Warburton but sorry I haven't got a pic. Has anybody got one please?
Is this the right time to divide them? I don't know too much about them but always had success dividing them after they had flowered.

Hiya Phot's, LOL Just about any are good for beginners, the bronze leaves ones can be a pain to get goin and are a tad tenderish without winter protection. All flower over a few months time and make a great background to a garden. Marks favorite is one called PDB5 and mine are the species. Just stay away from the x.crocosmiiflora (the common orange) unless you want to naturlize an area...they really grow and are hard to get rid of... Mrs.C
if you clear it, plant it....the weeds will come!! So plant more!!!

hi poppikin, Ok first.....Mrs Warburton?? That is a new one on us....do you have a photo of it? Where did u get it??? We have Walburton Red and Walberton Yellow, but have never heard of yours. We have the NCCPG National Collection of Crocosmia so if you go on the post or two above and see our web site maybe you can find a picture of yous. Now is the perfect time to divide them just becareful with the tender white shoots that are coming on now if you do break any off it is ok. give them a bit of bonemeal in the holes and re plant. May I ask if you do divide could we get 3 corms from you and grow them on and see what it is??? Thanks Mrs C

Oh dear Mrs Crocosmia, the embarrassment of it all!
I went to check the label and it's actually called Walberton from the Walberton Nursery http://www.walberton-nursery.co.uk/ and I am sure you will know this one.
It is mine and I look after it but since I bought it everyone has always called it Mrs Warburton, apparently it's a family joke that I did not know about. I'm sorry to have mislead you.
It is lovely with huge saucer like yellow flowers.
That said we have the common or garden orange Montbretia growing wild here and we think it's lovely too.
Which is very strange as they were said to be all chalk haters and we are on chalk on the North Downs.

Nice strong colour.
Whether you think you can do a thing, or think you cannot, you are right.
