I'm looking for suggestions for a golden wedding present in the plant line. Prfereably shrub or tree, possibly native(?) or could be fruit tree. It will be for a garden in Suffolk. thanks Will

Will, what about a crab apple? I'm very fond of crab apples, they are good small garden trees with blossom and useful fruit - 'Golden Hornet' would be nice for a golden wedding, white blossom and large yellow fruit that makes great crab apple jelly.

Will - I advise you to go to the plant selector feature on this site and key in the aspect and soil type then put golden in the foliage or flower colour. You'll get all sorts. Friends of mine bought golden roses for their parents - a whole bed of them.

For my parent's most recent wedding anniversary I gave them a Myrtus communis. It is said to be dedicated to Venus, the goddess of love, which I thought very romantic. Their plant was not large, but I put it in a pretty container and wrote out a page about the folklore connected with it. They seemed delighted and the plant has been well cared for.
