i have a recurring problem with mildew and then total defoliation on my honeysuckle which i'm growing on a trellis at the back of a border near the house which can be accessed from terrace either side. it is a hot site, especially this year, but it is well ventilated and has good soil. does anyone have a suggestion for a honeysuckle which is more resistant to mildew and would cope better with these conditions?

I have a recurring problem with mildew and leaf drop on my honey suckle---The site where it is planted meets all criteria.
Have they developed a mildew resistant honey suckle or other then spraying with chemicals are there other solutions for this problem. Cola Bear

Powdery mildew is favoured by hot dry sites. Honeysuckle is a plant that favours moist, cool soil. Wrong plant for the site; wrong site for the plant. Move the honeysuckle elsewhere and consider trachelospermum, Jasmine or clmbing solanum for this postion.
Now to you, CBear:
I have a recurring problem with mildew and leaf drop on my honey suckle---The site where it is planted meets all criteria. Well, if it really does meet all the critera (see above) consider if the plant is stressed by poor root growth, perhaps due to being newly planted or not growing as it should after planting. Consider if the site is too wet and therefore lethal to roots, too dry or if the plant is defective or planting and aftercare need fine-tuning.
Have they developed a mildew resistant honey suckle Nope
or other then spraying with chemicals are there other solutions for this problem. Chemicals available to gardeners won't make up for poor site, but if moving to a better site is not possible, then watering and feeding might help. But don't hold your breath.

Dear Bogweevil
Thanks for your post - I'm having the same problem as Cola Bear and Jane, I have two honeysuckle plants with this problem, but they're in the wrong positions - I will move them.
