Get all 'Naturalistic' at Wisley this September!

Posted by Wisley Plant Centre on 27 Jul 2011 at 10:53 AM

If you're at all interested in modern 'naturalistic' planting, Wisley's the place to be on September 17th & 18th. The 'Contemporary Borders' event features horticultural heavyweights Noel Kingsbury (prolific writer and designer) and Neil Lucas (grasses guru and owner of Knoll Gardens in Dorset).

The format for both days is the same. Noel will talk about what 'naturalistic' means and how to get the effect in the smaller garden, while Neil will focus on ornamental grasses and their use in planting schemes. The talks are followed by walks in the garden to illustrate the points made. There's plenty to see, with the Glasshouse Borders (designed by Piet Oudolf, with whom Noel has long been associated) and grass beds (designed by Neil) both looking at their best.

After a break for lunch, our two speakers will sign copies of their latest books in the Wisley Plant Centre, and will also lead another garden walk for those who can stand the pace. Anyone booking this event gets a £5 voucher to be spent in the Plant Centre over the weekend, where the inspired will find great displays of gorgeous perennials and grasses to buy.

So come on down to Wisley for what promises to be a stimulating masterclass in modern planting design!

Prices are £20 for RHS members and £29.90 for non-members (includes garden entry). To book, call 0845 6121253 (weekdays 9am - 5pm), quoting booking reference 8399 (for the Saturday) or 8400 (Sunday).
