Crawling over the line

In my last post (written some time ago now) I talked about us having made a flying start. Well, it just goes to show how much can change in a day or two because after erecting the main structure and rendering it in three days, progress started to slow down. Not a lot, but one thing led to another and before you know it you're under pressure.

It was while under pressure that I made a near fatal mistake in that I tried to stick to my schedule instead of adjusting the schedule to fit the new reality. I rushed into planting the ferns in the grotto (or should I say Kerry and Steven of the Fernatix did) before I had fully tested the rain curtain that falls across the entrance, thus making it extremely difficult to fix the inevitable leak that developed.

In struggling to repair the leak I managed to knock some bark mulch into the water system which consequently clogged up the dripper nozzles of the rain curtain. This then required a visit from Tom at Waterwell in order to flush out and clean the system. All of this caused more delays adding to my somewhat fraught condition.

Fortunately with much effort and determination on the part of all members of the team, these difficulties were overcome just in time for the garden to be assessed this morning. We now await the judges' visit at about 8.30 tomorrow morning (or looking at my watch should I say today!)

It is a great relief knowing that it is now all out of my control having done everything possible to produce a great garden for my sponsor, Easigrass.

Fingers crossed!
