Well, perhaps not quite blind but definitely a hint of panic.
With the larger gardens underway on site, the urban gardens have another week of preparations off site before it gets really serious.
I am fairly relaxed about the built element of the garden as it's almost ready to go (in kit form) at Easigrass HQ, where we have assembled such a good team, everyone proven experts in their field.
The plants, however, are always the trickiest element, and the cause of my feelings of panic over the last few days. It's the fennel that's potentially a problem. Our first batch of plants are looking great now but may be too tall in two weeks time! So as to allow me to sleep at night I have sourced two more batches of one hundred and fifty plants, one batch smaller, one a little larger, on the principle that of the three batches one has to be just right!!!
On a more relaxing note, the verbena I have been worrying about all winter seem to be making up lost ground and are looking great. That just leaves the tulips which have just come out of cold storage at 2 degrees C into the light and warmth of spring. As with the fennel we have three batches coming out at intervals so we should have at least one batch that are perfect. I hope!
