Soft, Quilty, Velvet and Luxurious

With less than a week before we arrive on site it’s a case of checking and double checking all the plans. No matter how many times I go over the build schedule I still feel there’s something I have forgotten. You try to think of everything, knowing full well that something unexpected will come along and test you at some point.

Have given several interviews recently there is one question I dread being asked; it always crops up and I hate it.

What do you think will be the next big thing, fashion or trend for 2009?

Well my dear, I want to say, quite frankly I don’t give a damn. But of course this kind of frankness would be wholly inappropriate and I try to find a polite way of sidestepping the question. The answer should of course be, if one were not encumbered by false modesty: Busy Lizzies, Cordylines and Quilted Velvet toilet tissue!

Returning to the more important issue of public toilets, I had an interesting conversation with Angus White at Architectural Plants the other day. I am grateful to him for his wise words on the subject. I should have known that the owner of one of the most remarkable semi-public conveniences in the world would have much to contribute on the subject and so he did. Definitely a gold medal winning toilet and an inspiring nursery!

Getting more in touch with my softer, feminine side the cushions and duvets have arrived for our luxurious, soft, quilty, velvet seating area. It’s going to be somewhere between a seat and a bed. I can’t wait to dive into all those soft, quilty, velvet fabrics. Perhaps I may be pushing the point but it’s going to be soft, quilty, velvet and ever so luxurious.
