Rosemoor Garden RHS Garden Rosemoor

Set deep in the beautiful North Devon Countryside, RHS Garden Rosemoor was gifted to the RHS in 1988 by Lady Anne Berry, and since then the original eight acres have been greatly developed into 65 acres of enchanting garden and woodlands. In this blog, we will keep you updated with what's going on in the garden and what's looking good when, as well as letting you know about the exciting programme of events we are holding throughout the year. Enjoy!

Environmentally friendly toilets!

Posted by Rosemoor Garden on 30 Jan 2009 at 11:11 AM

The Rosemoor Visitor Centre has been kitted out with some brand new toilets – and not only do they look good, they are also helping to be kind to the environment – one of the RHS’s driving goals. The ladies toilets have been completely gutted and re-vamped, and equipped with toilets with the lowest volume of flush available in the UK – using less than half the amount of water than the old ones!

The gents toilets now have waterless urinals – which, as the name suggests, use no water at all, reducing our urinal water consumption by 100%! Some waterless urinals have odour problems, and use chemicals to combat this, but these use no chemicals and instead are fitted with a small fan in the waste pipe work that evacuates any smell. Very clever!

We have also installed new infra red taps which only run while your hands are in the basin. These should reduce our water consumption for hand washing by at least 50%. Our new dyson airblade hand dryers dry your hands in just 10 seconds, using a high velocity blade of air that’s 99.9% bacteria free. They also use up to 80% less energy than other dryers.
