Following on from Chris Bailes' blog last month about our newly designed Square Garden here at RHS Garden Rosemoor, I am pleased to announce that we now have a date for its official opening! The ceremony will take place at 11.15am on Wednesday 30 July, with the President of the RHS, Peter Buckley, doing the honours and declaring the new garden officially open.

Originally created in 1991, the Square Garden was cleared in late 2007 to be completely re-landscaped and replanted to an exciting new design, put forward by West Country garden designer Roger Webster. Though the highly popular ‘hot colour’ theme has been retained, new mixed borders surround a naturalistic meadow-style centre, a first for Rosemoor! Planting is now complete, and the Garden is quickly developing, although the plants will obviously take a little time to settle in. It is already open to the public, so if you would like to see the contemporary new design, come along and take a look for yourself.
If you want to find out more, Rosemoor Gardeners, David Squire and Louisa Bennelick, are leading a walk to explain how the garden was transformed and to look in detail at the brand new plantings on Wednesday 16 July at 11am – 1pm. Call 01805 626800 to book a place.
