New look for Hampton

It's exciting - my favourite RHS show is just around the corner.

To my mind the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show offers so much to visitors. Many of the best exhibitors are there; it has lots of great features; and is always changing and giving something new for people to see and enjoy.

The superb Growing Tastes Feature - launched last year - is back and looking better than ever. As a committed (no, not in that way!) 'grow your owner' I loved this feature last year and this year's looks even better. There were so many good things to taste last year that my mouth's watering at what's on offer this time.

The Garden Energy feature looks interesting and I'm curious to see what the Met Office will be saying about climate change; I'm afraid I'm one of those climate change cynics!

We've said goodbye to the Daily Mail Pavilion this year and the new-look layout of the floral pavilions as a consequence  should be  a great improvement if you're into your flowers.

Although I like show gardens, the best gardens for me are the small ones, and this year there are two new categories - sustainable and the six wives of Henry VIII - which should be well worth the look for great ideas for small spaces.

And finally, if you want your garden to look whacky and provide a talking point for friends and neighbours, then don't forget the conceptual gardens! I can't always get my head around what they're trying to say/prove - but they're certainly conceptual and often controversial!

Missed our online coverage on the lead-up to the show? Then go and have a look now. And if you're going to the show you won't be disappointed.

Fancy going, but haven't got your tickets yet? Well, don't worry, there's still time to buy them in advance or if the mood takes you you can walk up and buy tickets on the day. Find out about tickets.
