It is with a heavy heart that we said goodbye to our volunteer James yesterday. As a momento of all the ladybird photos James was obsessed with taking on our plots, what more fitting leaving pressie than a mug with ladybirds on?!

On which note, those of you that read our Spot the spots post a couple of weeks ago may like to hear the answer; there was a total of 5 ladybirds in the photo.

While Sarah got on with setting pitfall traps (above), the rest of our volunteer team lent a hand to the Gardens team who manage the Howard's Field area at Wisley where our Plants for Bugs beds are sited. They had a special task to perform. An tired old heather bed is being revamped with a new sowing of wildflowers. We've selected ones suited to the dry sandy soil. Before sowing the site needed clearing - a hot job for a sunny day. We'll keep you posted of progress.
