RHS research project monitoring insects in native and non-native garden border plants.

Au revoir, not goodbye

It is the time of year when everythings feels like it is going to sleep. Look at these ladybirds who have found a nice spot on some old plant debris to hunker down for the winter.

Off the plots things are changing too. It is with a heavy heart that we said our farewells to our volunteer Linda. Linda has been with the project almost from the start so it will feel mighty strange not to have her. Still, we mustn't be selfish and, since it's to a new job that we are losing her then congratulations are in order. And you never know - she may be back if she misses us too much!

In true Plants for Bugs style we marked Linda's last day with cake and tea. Here she is in the centre about to tuck into the victoria sponge;

While working her last day Linda spotted these beauties on the plots. No idea what they are but the mild weather has been great for a late fungal flurry.
