Judi taking overhead shots of the plots
Judi, Plants for Bugs volunteer writes;
"After winter hibernation of both volunteers and plots under a snowy duvet, it was time this week to blow away the cobwebs and climb to the top of the Japanese tripod ladder. Each plot is photographed in turn from above. This means two people to manouevre the ladder into position while the third photographs a bed reference number and then climbs up to photograph the plot from overhead - 1 plot down, only 35 to go!
These photographs show the density of vegetation on each of the plots and will be used to compare both the two sites and also changes in plant growth and flowering through the seasons.
An overhead shot of one of the plots planted with exotic plants
Spotted today;
· Both native (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) and near-native (Hyacinthoides hispanica) bluebells just emerging, having been planted in Oct 2009
· Some minor rabbit damage at Deers Farm and mole hills at Howard's Field
· Stachys byzantina looking much healthier after last week's tidy up
Then back to base for cake!"
