NDG+ Chelsea Flower Show 2009

Nicholas Dexter Garden Designer Sussex UK

NDG+ is an award-winning landscape and garden design studio with a passion for minimalist garden design. Our work is unique as we combine modern geometric structure with natural landform to produce bold and dynamic landscapes. Garden landscaper, Nicholas Dexter previously trained as a geologist which has a strong influence on his works as a designer. He is a registered member of the Society of Garden Designers and is a specialist in 3D computer visualisation. Bold natural planting schemes inspired by nature soften our modern garden design plans.

Garden complete – 8 days

Baby due – 20 days

After months of planning, last minute changes, meetings and stress we finally put spade to ground and dug a hole. It feels as if I have started a very imporant phase of my life. By the end of May I will have completed the garden, won a medal (hopefully) and become a dad.

At NDG we provide detailed 3D and 2D landscape design plans to help our clients and landscapers visusalise the project before it is built. I have posted a link to my website that shows a 3D fly-though of the garden (without plants however in this example)

Although my landscaper and I have discussed the build phase hundreds of times before we started we both agree that we need to be flexible, and keep good sense of humour as this is a pretty unique construction project.

The doctor said that our baby is "looking forward to meeting us" - perhaps that means the baby is going to be early. Who knows? Ally has finished work now and getting some much needed rest and relaxation. The last couple of weeks of work had been rather tough for her. It's funny that we both can't sleep much at night. She lies awake with back ache while I suffer with the mental anguish of building a garden.

Hi.  I chatted to you on Thursday afternoon, and loved your garden.  I explained that I was creating my own glassed roof terrace and wanted ideas for good designs for making it non-slip by sandblasting and you kindly gave me the name of the company in Clapham which sandblasted your glass.  ..Could you possibly give it to me again?  Maybe you could post the answer on your blog? Many thanks. ALD
