Outside Glass

Posted by Jim Gardiner on 18 Jun 2008 at 03:59 PM

Over at the Glasshouse the team have been busy potting up and moving large planters for outside display.

On the eastern side, bananas and angel’s trumpets (Brugmansia) are included, reflecting the tropical nature of the Glasshouse inside.  Over on the western, drier side they include dry temperate plants.

Matthew Pottage, Supervisor of the Tropical section, Yonit Nadra-Bridgman, Senior Gardener of Tropical, and second year trainee Rebecca Bevan all worked to put this display out.

Meanwhile, the Glasshouse Landscape, designed by Tom Stuart-Smith, is really filling out wonderfully a year on from its initial planting.  This garden is designed as a large amphitheatre, centred on the glasshouse and lake. It is bounded by a beech hedge which is irregularly punctuated by openings, connecting the garden to other parts of Wisley.  In June the geraniums and euphorbias look glorious.
