Bud and Blossom

Posted by Jim Gardiner on 19 Feb 2008 at 04:55 PM

Children from five local primary schools recently visited RHS Wisley to participate in a day of environmental art, dance and music as part of the 'Bud and Blossom: Inspiring children through music, dance and art' project. The children used the tropical plants in the Glasshouse for inspiration to create fantastic pieces of dance and music, working with professional dancers and musicians from Bassistry Arts.

A final performance took place in the Glasshouse each day, with an audience of staff and the public watching.

On 11th February we hosted St Paul's Primary School from Addlestone. This coincided with our Orchid Festival, and having children performing music and dance in the Glasshouse was most 'atmospheric' especially with the sound of the waterfall in the background and children dancing in amongst the orchids….

The project was kindly supported by The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

We look forward to being able to welcome schools back again soon.
