Seed and Scent and a happy new year.

Wisley was awash with visitors over the Christmas period. There's always a surprising amount to see at this time of year, with the garden full of winter flowering plants, many of which are fragrant. We have a new trail guide out in support of this over the next two months – Fragrance and Frost – available from the Garden Entrance and around the site from leaflet dispensers.

Meanwhile, the holiday provides a great opportunity to start thinking about the year ahead, with many hours spent scouring seed catalogues. For RHS members there is an additional special benefit available – the opportunity to grow seed collected from our own RHS gardens.

From May until November staff and volunteers in the Seed Department collect and clean the seed and then it gets packed over the next couple of months. Now, in January, we are gearing up to start processing the orders from members in around 60 countries around the world. We will process approx 7,000 orders and this will take us until sometime in April.

Please go to www.rhs.org.uk/seedlist for more information on the Seed Distribution Scheme.
