Off-duty @ Chelsea

It's not just the gardens that are imaculately turned out for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, some of the visitors are as carefully groomed as the plants and flowers. Jennie Bond was officially off duty when I stopped her on Main Avenue on Monday.

"It's absolutely wonderful not to be working here, this is the first time I've been able to properly look around and see.
The gardens look absolutely splendid, I know it's been a very difficult year for people with the weather conditions. I‘ve just looked at a couple of the show gardens and I'm always astonished by how pristine and wonderful they are, I know the hard work that goes on and I know how nervous everyone will be
Today  I'm just enjoying myself and I'm showing my husband around for the first time, because he's never actually been."

I visited Chelsea with my mother yesterday and had a fantastic day.  We started by taking the Thames Executive river boat up river from Embankment and watched London drift by in eager anticipation of what lay ahead.  We were not disappointed.  Many of the show gardens sparked discussion, never over the standard of the plants or planting but sometimes over the "meaning" of the garden.  Our favourite was the perfume garden a real inspiration. We also enjoyed the energetic talk from Roy Lancaster so don't forget to see who is speaking.  As we left, tired by uplifted by so many beautiful plants and people we walked slowly passed all the cars queuing West of Chelsea Flower Show, hailed our river boat and peacefully glided back down to Emabankment - a truly fantastic day - and a very big thankyou to all - Susie

So glad you had a wonderful day. Which plants and gardens inspired you the most?

What a great way to beat the traffic.
