Ian LeGros Curator RHS Garden Hyde Hall

I joined the Hyde Hall team as an untrained assistant gardener in 1992, was promoted to Garden Superintendent in April 2005 and then to Curator in June 2006. Over the years I have been lucky enough to play a lead role in many of Hyde Hall’s landmark projects including setting out the Farmhouse Garden, the redevelopment of the Queen Mother’s Garden, and the creation of the Millennium Avenue and Wild Wood. Most recently I helped to co-design the new Robinson Garden which was opened in 2007.

Digital Diversity - an exhibition by Niki Simpson

Posted by Ian LeGros on 10 Jul 2009 at 09:53 AM

Showing at Hyde Hall until the end of October is a digital botanical art exhibition by Nik Simpson.

An award-winning botanical artist, Niki Simpson demonstrates that botanical art can flourish in the digital era. Her new digital approach to botanical illustration has been described as groundbreaking. Working in collaboration with botanist Peter Barnes, Niki's new work contains features and insights made possible through digital imagery. She combines the scientific standards of traditional artwork with both photographic realism and the application of current technology to produce reference-standard work and commercial designs.
