Ian LeGros Curator RHS Garden Hyde Hall

I joined the Hyde Hall team as an untrained assistant gardener in 1992, was promoted to Garden Superintendent in April 2005 and then to Curator in June 2006. Over the years I have been lucky enough to play a lead role in many of Hyde Hall’s landmark projects including setting out the Farmhouse Garden, the redevelopment of the Queen Mother’s Garden, and the creation of the Millennium Avenue and Wild Wood. Most recently I helped to co-design the new Robinson Garden which was opened in 2007.

Preparing for a Taste of Autumn Weekend

Posted by Ian LeGros on 17 Oct 2008 at 01:20 PM

Over the last couple of days several staff (Tracy, Jo & Andrew) have been preparing pumpkin and apple displays ready for our Taste of Autumn Weekend on 18-19 October 2008.

We have also collected a number of Crab Apples from nearby Barnards Farm which have been made into a giant apple display, thanks to the creative abilities of Andrew Hellman.

As well as fruit and vegetable displays we will have a number of local producers selling their produce and seasonal cookery demonstrations at 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm.

Taste of Autumn runs between 10am and 4pm both days.  Adults £5.00 and children £1.50.

Down at our vegetable plots there will also be talks on what do with your vegetable patch at this time of year (sessions at 11am and 1.30pm) and a presentation on wild food at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 3pm.
