Ian LeGros Curator RHS Garden Hyde Hall

I joined the Hyde Hall team as an untrained assistant gardener in 1992, was promoted to Garden Superintendent in April 2005 and then to Curator in June 2006. Over the years I have been lucky enough to play a lead role in many of Hyde Hall’s landmark projects including setting out the Farmhouse Garden, the redevelopment of the Queen Mother’s Garden, and the creation of the Millennium Avenue and Wild Wood. Most recently I helped to co-design the new Robinson Garden which was opened in 2007.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Posted by Ian LeGros on 22 Aug 2008 at 04:50 PM

Over the bank holiday weekend, Hyde Hall will be open daily from 10am and we have a number of special garden trails which will make your visit more enjoyable.

For children, we have a Harry Potter inspired wand trail which will help smaller visitors learn about the different types of trees and their woods.

For adults we have a plant hunters' trail, and a Chinese plant trail and plant display which forms part of the Essex Jiangsu Festival.

Essex County Council is embarking upon a unique cultural festival to celebrate a continuing and successful 20 year partnership with Jiangsu Province in China.

Hundreds of celebratory events will take place all over Essex for nine months between July 2008 and March 2009 in the biggest international arts festival Essex has ever enjoyed. The festival will include cultural shows and events coming all the way from Jiangsu, in all sorts of venues for all sorts of people in Essex. From dancers to traditional puppetry and from master crafts people to musicians and artists, the festival will bring a taste of China to Essex.
