Chelsea Florist of the Year Update

Posted by Dennis van Wonderen on 16 Mar 2009 at 05:58 PM

It's been a while since my last post and oh my word, have I been busy or what???

After 4 months of regional heats held up and down the country to select Britain's finest florists we have managed to secure the finalists for Chelsea. Close to 400 people entered the BFA Qualifying Hub Heats to be in with a chance to get to Chelsea. There will be two categories at Chelsea this year (one for juniors and one for seniors) which will see 15 entrants in each category competing to win the prestigious title of 'RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year'.

The competitors have now received the schedule in which they are asked to design and construct a flamboyant floral hat. My imagination is already running wild, I can't begin to imagine what the competitors will create for us but what I do know is that we're in for a right treat. The Great Pavillion is going to see some head turning pieces on display (excuse the pun...) for all the world to see.

I will update you from time to time with some inside information on some of the finalists you will be able to see at the show. Until then, it's Mother's Day in the shop this weekend and as you can well imagine, I'll be rushed off my little size 10 feet so you might have to bear with me (although I seriously detest that phrase) until after the storm has gone...
