BFA Floristry Demonstrations presenting: Neil Whitaker

Posted by Dennis van Wonderen on 16 Jun 2008 at 04:42 PM

Wow, what a week! It's seriously tempting when you're working the stand at Gardeners World Live to indulge in the yummie foods on offer in the food hall. All the marvellous aroma's wafting through the plant hall were giving my nose a serious beating and have now left me with some crash dieting to do for the next week or so to work off the added extra's!

Tatton is almost upon us and just enough time left to tell you about our fourth demonstrator on Saturday 26th July, Neil Whitaker.

Neil has been part of the florist industry for over 27 years and runs The Design Element with his partner which is based in Irlam, Manchester.  He gained his NDSF through the Society of Floristry in 1998 and went on to attain the prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers in 2000.  Neil travels all over the world demonstrating and teaching in many countries and has taught in China, Vietnam, Australia, Europe and the UK where he holds workshops at his floristry school in Irlam.

His list of achievements include Interflora Florist of the Year, two Chelsea Gold Medals, BFA UK Florist of the Year and he represented the UK in the Europa Cup final held in Slovenia where he achieved 4th place, the highest place ever achieved by a UK representative!

Neil is highly motivated and constantly strives to learn and create new techniques, taking influences from all around the world, working ever harder to push the boundaries of floral design.

This is definately a day for the diary folks, be prepared to be dazzled! Off for a run now... More news later in the week :-)
