It's all stations go at the moment, I am spending my days at Chelsea from early in the morning until late at night. How the other half live eh? Not a bad job I suppose, I can think of worse places to be! Amy and Marilyn are certainly attracting plenty of attention from the visitors and our floral jewelry is going down a storm. If you are still able to come and see our stand in the Great Pavillion, pop in and say hi. We're on stand GPC8 and who knows, you might end up wearing one of our masterpieces if you're brave enough...

But now the reason for my blog today, I am about to introduce you to our second demonstrator at Tatton Park, Helen Jamieson who will be taking to the demonstration stage in the BFA Marquee on Thursday 24th July.

  • BFA Chelsea Stand wins Bronze Medal

Dennis van Wonderen on 20 May 2008 at 11:38 PM

After a lot of hard work, dealing with several set backs along the way (as nothing ever goes as planned) and days of working our socks off we did it, we have managed to win a medal at Chelsea. I was absolutely delighted to arrive at our stand this morning to find we had been rewarded with a Bronze medal!

For our first ever entry at the Chelsea Flower Show, to walk away with a Bronze medal is something we can all be very proud of. Now that we have had a successful introduction all I can say is watch this space as it's all onwards and upwards from here..

  • Greenmount Regional Heat Update

Dennis van Wonderen on 15 May 2008 at 04:55 PM

Me and my big mouth, boasting about the lovely weather we are having.... It's raining now :-( Oh well, that's just another typical summer in the UK I suppose....

I have an update on the regional heat for you as promised.21 competitors took part in the Northern Ireland competition, with a wonderful selection of flowers and sundries they all set to off to complete the first task , an arrangement to go on/or at the base of a grand piano. Several competitors used the purple Midelino Sticks to represent the music bars and notes, which created both rhythm and movement through their designs. The body adornments were both creative and varying in styles and designs, and followed on by their presentation bouquets and chaplet, which was to be placed around the head of Sir Malcolm Sergeant, proving to cause them the most problems.

  • Floristry Demonstrations at Tatton

Dennis van Wonderen on 02 May 2008 at 10:40 PM

It's been a while since my last blog and I have not managed to get into my 'new habit' of updating on a weekly basis yet... But since I remembered today I thought I'd drop a few lines. Visitors to the BFA Marquee at Tatton Park this year will see some of the finest BFA member florists share their floristry skills with a live audience. The latest floristry trends will be created before your very eyes using mainly English grown flowers. For those of you that wonder what the BFA is all about, why not have a look at our consumer website. Visit us at www.bfaflorist.org for more information about the BFA and where to find your nearest store. More on the demonstrators in my next blog!
