Rosemoor's rose season is really creeping up on us now, and it will only be a week or so before the roses are out in full bloom and the glorious scent of over 2,000 roses from more than 200 cultivars fills the air!

Red hot pokers cause a stir among our feathered friends

For the last couple of years we've seen more and more birds 'discovering' that the red hot pokers in the garden at RHS Rosemoor are a good source of nectar. Last year we saw mostly greattits doing this, but as you can see this year the greater spotted woodpeckers are getting in on the act as well!

The New Square Garden at Rosemoor is almost complete, and should be open to the public in a few weeks, although its official opening is not until July.

We are all getting very excited about our forthcoming Beatrix Potter exhibition here at Rosemoor, which is on display from 24 May – 25 August this year! To link into the exhibition gardeners Peter Earl and Garry Preston have created a delightful version of Mr McGregor’s Garden. Situated at the back of the fruit and veg garden at Rosemoor, it is fenced and hedged, and incorporates many of the items mentioned in the Beatrix Potter books: the tool shed, the cucumber frame, the gooseberry bush, rhubarb for Jemima’s eggs and a selection of fruit and vegetables. It has been completed with a scarecrow wearing Peter Rabbit’s blue jacket and tam o’shanter!
