First Sowings in the 3x3 Plot!

The plastic cloche used to cover the soil on the 3x3 plot has done its work well - soil temp is now 10 degrees C, so great for sowing.  Just as well really,  cos it blew away yesterday and had to be rescued from among the shelter belt trees.  The site is very windy and exposed, not ideal for veg growing.  The plants need some shelter and protection or growth can be seriously stunted and plants damaged.

Went out to sow some seed today in the bed in the sunshine - a couple of rows of carrots (Resistafly), some spring onions and radishes.  They will be kept covered under a cloche, as despite the sunshine it is quite cold still and there was a frost last night.

On the old BBC plot, we are still harvesting lettuce (under cloches), perpetual spinach, lamb's lettuce and oriental greens.

My plot not ready yet but should be by the end of this week.  don't think soil will be warm enough though so will plant seeds in a couple of weeks

Glad to see updates and will keep watching

I am seeking inspiration from the 3x3 plot as I started quite a few years ago with something a lot bigger.  The 3x3 plot is simple. I am going to persist with my circular celtic design I had ambitions for a potager or something, but as a virgin veg grower with limited time and enthusiasm so many times it feels like starting again but this year I convinced prince charming that mulching is good and to preare the ground has been much easier this spring.  I am in surrey so I put some seeds in last weekend and covered some with mini cloche and others with fleece I am keeping my fingers crossed
