Great progress!

Posted by Alexandra Denman on 30 Apr 2010 at 05:36 PM

We are coming to the end of day 2 and the show ground is coming together at a rate of knots. The rain held off yesterday and all day today enabling the Great Pavilion, which comes in on the back of 29 articulated lorries, to be laid out on the two football pitches that its covers with relative ease. Gavin, the Great Pavilion Site Manager, is happy.

Since yesterday morning we have been connected to the electrics, telecoms and plumbing and our site cabin is now up and running so the emails have been flooding in - only 84 still to respond to since yesterday morning – what joy!

The garden’s water supplies are working and the plots have started to be excavated to a flat and level surface ready for their start next Wednesday. All in all a good first two days, but we hope the forecasted rain for the weekend does not arrive or at least with diminshed force. Water and soil equals lots of mud and an unpleasant start to build.

The wonderful handerchief tree in Ranelagh gardens is flowering early  - happy days!
